Cookie policy

A clear, short list of the cookies and similar storage technologies that this website uses, what each one is for, and how to turn them off. Last reviewed on 12 May 2026.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file placed by a website onto your device’s browser. Cookies allow a website to remember the choices you have made (for example, that you have already seen and dismissed a notice) so that you are not shown it again on every visit. We also use the closely related ‘local storage’ feature for the same purpose.

The short list

This site uses a deliberately small set of cookies and local-storage entries. Nothing here is used for advertising, retargeting, or sale to third parties.

Strictly necessary

  • PHPSESSID — a session cookie set by our PHP server to keep the contact form’s anti-forgery (CSRF) protection working. This is deleted when you close your browser tab.

Functional — remembering your cookie choice

  • cq_cookie_consent (local storage) — this small entry remembers whether you have accepted or declined the cookie notice on this site, so that you are not asked again on every page. It contains either the word ‘accept’ or ‘reject’, plus the timestamp of your choice. We do not read it for any other purpose. You can clear it by clicking the small gear icon at the top of any page and changing your choice, or by clearing site data in your browser.

What we do not use

  • No advertising cookies.
  • No analytics cookies (Google, Plausible, Matomo or otherwise).
  • No social-media tracking pixels.
  • No third-party fonts beyond Google Fonts, which serves CSS and font files only and does not set persistent cookies on the user device.

How to control or remove cookies

You can refuse all non-essential cookies on this site by clicking ‘Reject’ on the cookie notice that appears on your first visit. You can change your choice at any time by clicking the small gear icon in the top-right corner of the page.

To delete cookies and local-storage entries that have already been placed, use your browser’s settings. Most browsers offer this under ‘Privacy’, ‘Cookies and site data’, or ‘Clear browsing data’. Once you clear them, you may be shown our cookie notice again on your next visit.
